Services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Morgan officiating. A private burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, north of Stratford. Visitation will be at the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to service time.
June Purdon was born June 3, 1922 in Kansas City, Mo. She was adopted by Frank and Nellie Harmon Hamilton of Stratford. She was named Doris Evaline Hamilton. The family moved to Webster City. In her childhood, Doris contracted a serious illness, which left her hearing impaired and partially disabled. She was always cheerful person and attended Webster City schools and graduated by correspondence courses from American Education Institute in Chicago.
For several years, she served as a companion to a handicapped friend, Virginia Lewis. Doris pushed Ginny many miles in her wheelchair around town. They participated in many social activities - especially enjoying the annual Hamilton County Fair. Later, she worked as a dishwasher at Tom and Betty's Cafe until retirement. On Feb. 9, 1958, she married Claude Harold Huiatt. The resided in Webster City.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 23, 1971, her parents, several aunts and uncles.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to the Compeer Club or Asbury United Methodist Church. |
